Lagerberg Mooring

Lagerberg Mooring

Built directly above Seattle’s Lake Washington Ship Canal, Lagerberg Mooring required an unusual level of planning before construction could begin. Distinctive floor-to-ceiling glazing draws the canal into the home, capturing passing boats, shifting weather, and changing light throughout the day. Each opening was carefully coordinated with the exposed steel structure and exterior shading, down to custom color-matched aluminum profiles that echo the galvanized steel grating.

Location: Seattle, WA
Status: Completed
Architect: E. Cobb Architects
Builder: Dolan General Contractors

E. Cobb Architects and Dolan GC worked within these demanding site conditions to translate the design into a buildable structure at the water’s edge. Because access, structural tolerances, and installation sequencing were closely interconnected, the architect, contractor, and AeroFrame had to coordinate well before the glazing reached the site.

The window and door package was developed in relation to the exposed structure so that openings, frames, and surrounding materials could be resolved as part of the same construction logic. Sitting at the water’s edge demands a finish made to endure. AeroFrame systems are finished with an AAMA 2605-compliant PVDF coating, the highest performance classification for architectural aluminum finishes, providing lasting durability in exposed waterfront conditions.
